A Different Kind of Search Engine
Auvers was created from a simple belief: searching the web should inspire curiosity, encourage discovery, and make learning enjoyable.
While most search engines are designed to help people find information as quickly as possible, Auvers also hopes to help people discover ideas, places, people, history, art, science, and stories they may never have thought to search for.
Our goal is to make every search feel like the beginning of an adventure rather than simply the end of a question.
Why "Auvers"?
Auvers takes its name from Auvers-sur-Oise, the French village forever associated with Vincent van Gogh's final months. It represents creativity, exploration, imagination, and the belief that art has the power to change the way we see the world.
Those same ideas shape the philosophy behind this search engine.
Inspired by Walt Disney and Norman Rockwell
Two people helped shape the vision for Auvers more than anyone else.
Walt Disney demonstrated that imagination, optimism, and storytelling could bring people together in remarkable ways.
Norman Rockwell showed that everyday moments could reveal extraordinary stories about people, community, kindness, and American life. His work celebrated curiosity and the simple joy of discovering the world around us.
Auvers is an attempt to bring those same values into the way we experience information online.

Built by an Artist
Auvers was created by artist Jeff Kesses, whose career has focused on portraiture, illustration, murals, and live caricature entertainment.
Jeff studied at Dean College and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, later continuing his artistic education at the Andreeva Portrait Academy, the Los Angeles Academy of Figurative Art, and the Sadie Valeri Atelier. In 1989 he served as Artist in Residence at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, an experience that helped shape both his artistic career and his appreciation for storytelling through art. He later founded Boston Portrait Artists and Boston Caricature Artists, creating portraits, murals, and caricatures for clients throughout the United States and internationally.
Although Auvers is a technology project, it was conceived with an artist's perspective—placing creativity, visual design, and human curiosity at the center of the experience.
Our Philosophy
We believe a search engine should do more than answer questions.
It should encourage exploration.
It should reward curiosity.
It should introduce people to new ideas.
It should celebrate creativity.
And occasionally, it should surprise you.
Features like Daily Discoveries, the Knowledge Panel, and visual search experiences are designed with that philosophy in mind.
Still Growing
Auvers is currently in its early stages.
This soft launch represents the beginning of a much larger vision. New features, improved search experiences, and additional discovery tools will continue to be added over time.
Feedback from early users will play an important role in shaping the future of the project.
